When you’re at the top, you never anticipate the fall. That’s what it was like for Read. Five years ago, he was with the love his life when he won the biggest lottery the world had ever seen. Five years ago, he could see his future panning out, could see all the milestones that he was going to achieve. But that was five years ago. And things change. Boy do they change, now he is single, alone, and his life hung in the balance. When a moment of memory hits him, Read finds himself clinging to this hope that Emma, a girl he knew in college for all of four hours, may just be his salvation.

I think that this book was great! I felt like a change and wanted to read something that isn’t a Young Adult Novel and was not disappointed. When reading the blurb, I must admit that I was a little bit apprehensive. It sounded a bit odd, but I was determined to read it. I have no regrets, the plot was great and I felt that my apprehensions were thrown straight out the window.

I did feel in the initial stages of reading that Read Rio tended to start to rely on Emma and started to grow using her as a crutch, which I was worried about, considering the message it sent. And then it hit me, and I felt extremely naive for not thinking of it earlier. I am extremely impressed with how Ian Cahill was able to show readers what the mental health aspects can look like for people of wealth.

As an overall mark, I would say that if you are looking for a book that isn’t a Young Adult Novel, that deals with mental health and a hella lot of cash, then ‘No Such Luck’ by Ian Cahill seems like the way to go. Also, it has a character named Emma, more than enough reason to read it!
