Emma's July TBR, AKA An Unrealistic Goal

Hiya bookish people!

I am going to be telling you guys what my TBR for July will be! I have a new process for choosing these books so hopefully I can get through these! This is my minimum goal, and I am hoping that I will get to read a few more than these over the month!

~ RIVETED TEEN FREE READ ~

Riveted by Simon Teen is an amazing blog and website, where so many amazing things happen every month! From cover reveals of their YA books to Sweepstakes, quizzes, and updates on our favourite book to screen adaptations! Not only this, but they also do free titles every month! These titles are free for you to read on your chosen device for the month, and then they will release a few more! I do not believe you can download them, but they are easy enough to read on a phone or laptop screen. As well as their full reads, they also release some excerpts to their more anticipated novels.

It is my goal to read at least one of Riveted’s free titles every month! This month, there were so many to choose from! The full reads that are available include:

And the excerpts that are available include:

I can’t cope with responsibility, so I wrote down the titles of all the available full reads and got my friend Natasha to chose one for me. Keep in mind she based this completely without the cover, only the title. This month, from Riveted by Simon Teen, I am going to be reading Bad Girls With Perfect Faces.

~ OWNED BOOK ~

It’s my goal to finish the two books that I have at home from the YA section at my local bookstore. I am currently reading Broken Throne and I also have Queen of Air and Darkness ready for me to read. I have so many that I want to reread but I bought Queen of Air and Darkness in January, and I should probably read the second half of Lord of Shadows again before I start it, otherwise I won’t remember half of what is going on! I am really loving the Dark Artifices series within the ShadowHunter world. Cassandra Clare’s writing is so easy to get lost in and I always enjoy reading the books she lets out… even if she lets them out so fast my head spins!

~ E-BOOK ~

I have quite a few ebooks that I need to get through, and so I am making the goal of reading one ebook from my kindle! I am aiming to read The Hating Game, which the amazing Priyasha sent me as a blogging gift! You should check out her blog, Books and Co., it is so amazing!

~ E-ARC'S ~

I am really excited, because at the moment I have access to two amazing ARC’s to be published this month! I am going to be reading Glow: Book Ⅰ, Potency by Aubrey Hadley, and also A Shifting of Stars by Kathy Kimbray. I am really excited about A Shifting of Stars because I have seen a lot about it and most of the reviews are good! I’m feeling a little bit more hesitant about Glow: Book Ⅰ, Potency which is nerve racking, because you don’t really want to be nervous about an ARC.

~ LIBRARY ~

I am really looking forward to reading the following books from the library, especially as recommendations from other bloggers! It is my goal to read three library books! I want to read Wilder Girls by Rory Power as rec’d by Allie @ TheHufflepuffNerdette! I am also wanting to read Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan and finally StepSister by Jennifer Donelly as recommended by Charlotte @ Bewitching Books, Ravenous Reads! I am not naive enough to think that these will be the only books I will read this month, or that I will read all of them at all, but I would certainly like to read a few more!

What are the books that you are planning on reading this month? Any of the ones that I have listed here? have you read any of these?

  1. Yey for unrealistic TBRs!!
Personally, I couldn't read so much for the love of all gods, but I think you can do it!
Good luck! I hope you enjoy the books you read this month!

    1. I know! I am rereading my post and thinking about how daunting it seems now!

  2. I can never set myself a monthly tbr, unless it's for ARCs. I try to set up one but I'm a very moody reader so it's hard to stick to something.

    1. Fair enough - I know I will probably either skip or replace some of these, but that's okay because sometimes reading to your mood is just what you need :)

  3. Good luck with reading all of these!! I've seen Bad Girls with Perfect Faces-- it sounds interesting and it has a great name!! I hope you enjoy it!!
I've heard a lot of good things about The Queen of Air and Darkness so I hope you love it too!!
And I've heard a lot of good things about Stepsister too so I hope you love that one too!!

    1. Thank you! I am current reading The Queen of Air and Darkness and am really enjoying it - I always convince myself Cassandra Clare's work is going to be difficult to read just because there is so much of it, but always slide straight back into the story and can't put it down!
      You too!

  4. I am so Sorry I’ve missed these posts! I keep forgetting I have to go through email to get here.

Anyway! Love your July TBR! I’m excited to see what you think of Glow! I’m way overcommitted otherwise I’d go request it but it sounds really intriguing!

I’m also excited to see what you think of Wilder Girls. I’ve seen some mixed reviews so I’ve been hesitant to try it despite reading Lord of the Flies with explicit intent of reading Wilder Girls.

    1. That's okay, I am just happy that you want to visit AFCTL! I love your site so much and it is awesome to have you visit :)

Hmm, yes, I finish Glow in one sitting which I am unsure about as a book, so I will have that review up soon.

Wilder Girls seems very hyped, so I am excited but also scared...

  5. Every TBR list is an unrealistic goal for me.

I can't wait to see what you think of Wilder Girls, A Shifting of Stars, and pretty much all of these books! When it comes to hyped books, sometimes I feel like my expectations are a little bit too high, but I hope I like them anyway. Good luck on your TBR!

    1. Yes, they are all looking so exciting in some way or another. Hyped books are a bit deal to judge before you read them, so I am rather hesitant.
      Thank you!

  6. Oh this is a lovely TBR you have here! I can never stick to TBRs, they stress me out so I'd rather go with the flow haha. I am intrigued about Bad Girls With Perfect Faces, that title really is catchy, I hope you enjoyed/ will enjoy it!
    Happy reading :D

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by! Yes, this TBR is probably a bit optimistic, but I am hoping to get to most of these in the next *checks watch* 10 days?

  7. I hope you got some of these books read and enjoyed them (: I also really hope that you like Stepsister when you get around to it. I still need to pick up some other books by Jennifer Donnelly but I definitely plan to, especially the ones that you've mentioned before (: Ooh and I'm hoping to read Wilder Girls soon too. I have no idea exactly when as I have quite a few books I'm desperate to read but I know it's available as an ebook at my library so I have no excuse not to get to it fairly soon.

    1. Although I didn't get to read all of these, I am still super happy with how I did!
Me too! The library list is taking forever :(((

    2. Aww well that's what matters most (: as long as you read what you want and are happy about it.
I'm sorry to hear that. I ordered one ebook in and the wait list was over 140 days although it suddenly dropped by over half (I guess people got fed up and cancelled?). Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer.

    3. Yeah, hopefully. We have an inter-library system, so the books get posted between libraries, which I just think is silly. I ordered a book back in July that hasnt arrived, I'm now 54th on the list. You can only hold a book for a year, but you can take a book out for a month, so that doesn't really add up :/

    4. I generally find it quite helpful that they send books between libraries as it gives you a lot larger range of books but then it does also mean that you have more people wanting them at once too. 54th on the list? OMG that's ridiculous. They should order more copies of it in if it's that popular.

    5. Yeah, I would think so, too! But they haven't, although I did put in a request for more copies...
