The Spring Cleaning Book Tag!

Hi everyone! I was tagged by Malka and Chana @ PaperProcrastinators! They have such an amazing blog and a huge thanks to them for tagging me! Jen @ BookSyrup originally created this tag!

I tried something new and I created graphics?!? Yeah, weird! Feel free to use them but please credit them to me! :)

Well, I am going to say Throne of Glass, even though I have read it all now! The first book, Throne of Glass was released on August 2nd, 2012 and Kingdom of Ash, the final installment of the Throne of Glass series was released on October 23rd, 2018. I only started the series at the end of December 2018, and finished it early January 2019. So, yeah, I waited a very long time to start because I was so daunted by how many books had been released, and how many more there were to come.

How do I choose?! I love pretty much all of my books, and so un-hauling seems impossible! Although, if I look back at some of my books, I associate them to different things. I am going to take a bit of creative license with this and say that the ARC I received ‘Wind and Glass, Fire and Stone’ is a book I really could have gone without ever reading. It was belgh and had a very confusing and non-progressive plot. It left me going ?!? what about the supposed love interest!? Or is he not a thing anymore?! Where are we going, and you haven’t even given a thought to your other friends?! I found it very disappointing to read.

I really loved Good Omens by Neil Gaimann and Terry Pratchett! The new and interesting spin on the angel and demon dynamic is my biggest downfall atm. My friend Beth is currently doing an assessment on this novel, and although I read it so long ago, I decided to reread. I do not regret it! I am so in love with the dynamics around Aziraphale and Crowley, and have shipped them all over again! And now that I am watching the series, I am full of love heart eyes! They never actually confirmed to be in a relationship but I am going to live in blissful ignorance and state that they are! How can you not?! Crowley, a demon, calls Aziraphale ‘Angel’! Come on people!

Hmmm. I don’t like saying that I would like to rewrite something that an author has written, because it is the authors work. Saying that though, I would change a lot of things at the blink of an eye if I could. And these will be around my favourite characters deaths or emotional turmoil! CAN YOU JUST LEAVE MY SMOL BABIES ALONE?!?! PLease they don’t deserve the hate and the cruelty!

Eden Conquered, for sure. I felt that it was essentially just a repeat to Dividing Eden, which was a great standalone novel. Honestly, it felt like the author had no idea why they were still writing, and the story just started to feel more and more milked than it had before. Sorry, but it was honestly so disappointing and draws away from Dividing Eden.

I really loved Kingdom of Ash (which is no suprise, especially since I am a huge Sarah J. Maas stan) but although I am in love with the ending, I feel that there were a lot more loose ends than I would have liked. Where the hell is Vaughn, Sarah!?! WHERE IS HE!?!

For that reason, I am going to be choosing White Stag. I know I talk about this book a lot, but I feel that all the loose ends were tied up, but still left room for the sequels. I love how the author was able to do this since I struggle with books with a closed ending that then start a completely new plot in the sequel.

I haven’t seen this answer anywhere, and I think that this may end up being a bit of a controversial one, but Twilight. I feel that the whole point of the first book was that Bella and Edward’s love could conquer anything, and that isn’t the real world. I know this is a fantasy novel, but it is set in a world where things are slightly realistic. I think it is also extremely unrealistic that they never fought. Sure, Edward was a controlling and overprotective person, but bella almost always rolls over and accepts it? I think that Twilight is trying to say that love conquers all, and can withstand any trials… but it can’t. You can work through the trials, but love doesn’t make you immune. Sorry.

Red Queen, for sure.I love the Red Queen series. (PLEASE DON’T ATtACK MY SMOL BABY PSYCHOPATH MAVEN IT IS HIS MOTHER'S FAULT THAT HE IS LIKE THIS, NOT HIS OR MARE’S!) and I feel that the characters grew and changed so much across the whole series. As you can expect! I just feel that as the characters got more beaten down, and tired of fighting, I felt tired with them. Since Kings Cage was rather repetitive, I found that I struggled to get into War Storm again. But I was certainly satisfied once I finished this series!

I’ve chosen not to tag anyone at the moment since I have tagged so many people in recent tags that I don’t want to overwhelm people! Please feel free to do this tag, and comment your link below so I can see your answers!

  1. Ah.. this is a really fun tag and I love the graphics you have made for it!!
The Throne of Glass series certainly is intimidating with so many books that just keep getting bigger haha-- I started reading them just before the fifth one came out so the first four I read it a row , pretty fast though but they did look intimidating!!
I liked what you said about Twilight and the message that love conquers all because it is right-- love can be really powerful and amazing but it also has a lot of its own problems and you can have a hard time with it. Twilight had a bit of a 'rose-tinted' view on it I think.
    Great tag!!

    1. Thank you! This is the first time I did some graphics and I am really happy with how they turned out! Yes, TOG was so intimidating so I didn't want to start it unless it turned into a 35 million book series! Thank you, I find Twilight to get more and more on my nerves when people tell me that the series is 'beautiful because is displays true love!" blegh

  2. Oooh, love this tag and LOVE your graphics! Good job! I would just get stuck if I tried to get this tag haha.. so many books to choose from! My mind would get lost xD
I am so happy you liked Good Omens! In my country, Neil Gaiman was not very popular, if known at all, when I was little.. maybe in the big cities? So you can imagine that Terry Pratchett was like.. uhm.. a new kind of cheese? :)) So I am very unfamiliar with their work besides those that i've heard about since getting into bookstagram/blogging. I so want to read Good Omens too! I watched the whole series the day it came out :))

    1. Thank you! Yes, it is certainly a bit intimidating to start. I love Good Omens, and the book is honestly so very close to the book, it is one of the closest adaptations I have ever watched!

  3. I agree with Throne of Glass. I started it but I got slightly bored with it. And then the size of the series intimidated me, plus size of books. So I never continued on. This is a good tag! Problem is, I sold/gave ALL of my 500+ books when I needed money :/ So I can't do this tag lol

    1. I found that I was able to read the whole TOG series, but there were parts throughout that I felt let down the series, such as characters who had a lot of potential. Oh, I am sorry to hear that! Hopefully this could be an opportunity to start anew and build a new collection?

    1. Thank you so much! I had no idea where to start either lol it was pretty weird!
Yes, I really enjoyed it but it seems to be a common opinion that it got worse after KC, and I agree, but I loved the chaotic ending of War Storm!

  6. I love your graphics! Well done for making them (: and I really enjoyed reading your answers. I still need to read the Red Queen books (I know, I'm way, way too far behind with everything) but I do look forward to them still. I'll also have to check out Good Omens sometime as I've been meaning to read a Neil Gaiman book but wasn't particularly tempted by American Gods. This is the spring tag that I need to post still and like you I struggled with the unhauling question. I have quite a few books that I expect I'll get rid of eventually but I want to read them first... yet I never get around to them as I always have books that take higher priority :L
Anyway fantastic post and I loved reading your answers :D

    2. Oh really? They're amazing but I can imagine they're time consuming like you said. I will do someday, it's nice to hear it matters so much to you. I'll have to find out if the library has it. Thank you (: I'll hopefully get it posted soon. It's saved in my drafts ready.
