Night and Day - Sisters of a Forgotten Tale.

Hiya bookish people!

So, I decided to actually share a piece of trash my writing!

I'm high-key nervous about this since I haven't done it before, and I tried something super out of my comfort zone.

The story is pretty self explanatory, but I thought to add a note that Light is the Villain of this story. I have two pieces that go with this, but as I will be submitting them for NCEA, I don't know if I can post them here, too. I'm going to check with my teacher though.

Enjoy this trash!

Also, I. Am. So. Tired. Today was my first mock exam and I am honestly so pooped.

On another notice, I won a Gold Award for a Science project I did with my friend Jess! We did science at a primary school, and we got a Gold Impact Award on the Gold Night at the school expo night!

There once was a tale told around fires.

A story told only when Light melts into Darkness, or Darkness into Light, the domain of neither Sister. For before there was darkness, there was only eternal twilight, neither dark or light, but the most beautiful of each.

There once were two Sisters, who loved each other very much, and they found beauty in the separation of darkness and light; how a candle could cause shadows to deepen, even when it provided a stronger light than the sky.

One Sister couldn’t bear the thought of living in eternal twilight, for she wanted light. She wanted to see everything the world could offer; light reflecting off of an ocean, and sun through glass. She wanted to see and reign over a beauty only she would provide. The other Sister, however, favoured darkness. The way the world was shrouded, providing a deeper sense of comfort and security, with the beauty of the sky that few ever saw.

Fights between the two were brutal, for the Sister of Light wanted a way to end their eternal twilight, to envelop the world in pureness that only she could control, and Darkness wanted nothing more than peace, to be left in twilight.

It is said that Light, with a name long lost to the ash of fires, found a way to create eternal light by stealing from the Gods, and in the process, sacrificing a part of the soul she claimed to be made of the very thing she craved. That light long since turned bitter, blinding, rather than warm and caressing.

Darkness was scared. What would become of their bond when all the ugly parts were more visible? So Darkness waited, and when it was thought that the Gods had granted Light’s wish, she fled to the only person she thought could help her. Hades, a man of death and hatred with a soul as kind and beautiful as her own. For he had fallen in love and knew what it meant to be scared to lose a bond you cherished. Moved by Darkness' pleas, he granted her the power to create her own shadows, a cloak of darkness.

When the time came, Darkness tried to go against Light’s power, to counteract the light to create a twilight that would never end. But it did not go well, for Light had bound herself to a star, one so bright it could not be put out, and bound her Sister to the moon, so she would not have to see the face she had betrayed.

Now there is night and day, Darkness bound to the moon and Light bound to the sun.

It is said that this tale is only told at twilight, to ensure that the two Sisters are honoured in their few moments together.
